Reading Materials & Web‐Based Resources
Up‐to‐date is a good, basic web‐based reference.
Mandell, Douglas, and Bennett’s Principles and Practice of Infectious Diseases - Mandell’s is the go‐to ID textbook. While it can be dense reading, it is a good source if you feel able to “dig deeper” on a topic.
The IDSA (Infectious Diseases Society of America) practice guidelines provide up‐to‐date reviews of best practices for many common ID issues.
The Johns Hopkins antibiotic guide is a good source for basic antibiotic, bacteria & syndrome information/
The CDC’s website is an excellent reference for issues of public health concern, vaccination schedules, travel medicine & advice for travelers.
The UCSF HIV website is a well‐maintained site on HIV/AIDS treatment & prevention. The University of Washington maintains an HIV case‐based site. Stanford maintains a comprehensive HIV drug resistance database. The Portland‐based Research and Education Group is part of the NW AETC (AIDS Education and Training Center); this site has information on HIV education opportunities and numerous resources/references through the Resource Library.
Your attending will also provide relevant journal articles for you to review.
